Introduction
Frankly, the taproot concept of issuing assets on the Bitcoin blockchain is not new. When our team proposed the idea of Can-20 and discussed it with other technical teams, we received a lot of negative feedback. Opponents argued that consuming such high gas to inscribe data on BitCoin chain is " inefficient", and its limited data capacity makes building an AI data protocol meaningless and impossible.
However, we drew inspiration from linguistics and the development of human language. Communication involves selecting elements from a finite vocabulary and set of grammatical structures to create countless unique sentences. This core generative capability enables endless expression. Transformational-generative linguistics focuses on language's dynamic and creative aspects - gradually constructing complex narratives with branches starting from basic units.
Inspired by this theory and the Loot paradigm, we shaped the Can-20 protocol and its stack by defining fundamental narrative elements, while integrating unsupervised learning to build this grammar-based combinatorial system. With few “story archetypes” and transformational grammar, infinite possibilities can be created with limited data.
This linguistics-inspired approach strengthens our conviction in developing and promoting Can-20 despite the negative feedback. Just as human language creatively achieves boundless expression from basic building blocks, we believe Can-20 can unlock AI potential from minimal data.
